But is it Bay or a genre convention? I need to think about whether the way Bay handles cars and car chases can be classed as 'signature'.

Is Michael Bay an auteur part 1

So, I'm looking into whether Michael bay is an auteur. Apparently, auteur's are defined by the following:

the director, who oversees all audio and visual elements of the motion picture, is more to be considered the “author” of the movie than is the writer of the screenplay. In other words, such fundamental visual elements as camera placement, blocking, lighting, and scene length, rather than plot line, convey the message of the film. Supporters of the auteur theory further contend that the most cinematically successful films will bear the unmistakable personal stamp of the director (auteur theory." Encyclopædia Britannica. 2008. Encyclopædia Britannica Online School Edition. 10 June 2008 .).

So I am going to try to answer the following questions:

1. Do Michael Bay films bear his unmistakable stamp as a director? What are the characteristics of a Bay film?
2. Does his use of film language convey a message?
3. Does he oversee all elements of the film?
